ACID by Emma Pass

“In Jenna’s world, ACID – the most brutal, controlling police force in history – rule with an iron fist. And it was ACID agents who locked Jenna away for life, for a bloody crime she struggles to remember. But Jenna’s violent prison has taught her a thing or two about survival. And when a mysterious rebel group breaks her out, she must use her strength, speed and skill to stay one step ahead.”

What were your initial thoughts on the book?

When I first got the book I wasn’t very interested in it and wasn’t really sure what the book was going to be about and whether I would like it. It took me a while to get the book from my shelf and start reading it. I didn’t really want to read it but after reading the blurb and learning about it, I was very curious about it and started thinking that I shouldn’t have judged it so quickly. Although it was by an unfamiliar author I decided to give it a try and I am very glad I did because the book was amazing.

Who was your favourite character and why?

My favourite character is Jenna, I like the fact that she is fierce and strong and always ready for a battle. I love how confident she is and that she doesn’t care about what others think of her, she isn’t scared of anyone. I especially like that although she has a tough exterior she will help anyone who needs her help and cares about her friends, she will do everything she can to help the people she cares about.

What was your favourite part of the book and why?

My favourite part of the book was when Jenna finally learnt the truth about her parents. The story that she had been forced to believe had been very strange to me and when she learnt that every day since her life had been taken away from her was actually a different persons fault I finally understood everything. It was also the best part because a big question had been answered and Jenna had answers and would finally be able to defeat ACID and take back the life that had been taken away from her.

What was your overall impression of the book?

Overall I think that this was an amazing book, I absolutely loved it. I loved the fact that ACID had everything, it was an adventure and action book, it had romance and mystery, at some parts I was happy and at others sad. I really like that it didn’t have one main genre because it meant that it was very interesting and unpredictable and that I wouldn’t get bored, with ACID I was always on my toes not knowing what would come next, always waiting for the unexpected.

Would you recommend this book?

I would definitely recommend this book to anyone around the ages of 12-15, as it had a bit of everything, anyone who gives it a try is sure to enjoy it.

Summarise the book in one sentence. (Verdict)

A great book that will always have you on the edge of your seat.
