What is the book about?
This book is about a girl called Dot, who has a dog called McClusky and a sister (Maisy) and a brother (Alf). Dot had just moved and was having her first day at Oakfield School. She was nervous. Soon, she met Laura, Amy and Beans. She also found out that there was a concert at her school where you have to do what you are good at show everyone. Everyone was excited about the show and Amy really wanted to win. However, Dot overheard Laura talking about how she was going to win over Amy no matter what. They were all wondering what it was that Laura was planning, so when Beans and Dot found out that they both enjoy being detectives, the decided to form a group called Dots Detectives, and they decided that their first mission would be saving the school show and stopping Laura.
Who was your favourite character and why?
My favourite character was Beans because he was very helpful and kind. He helped Dot with many missions, formed a group with her and was also a very kind friend. He helped Dot out with a lot of things and he made no drama and I liked him a lot. One time I really liked Beans because he helped out Dot with the mission about Laura and Amy and the talent show and they finally figured out it at the end of the story. Dot wouldn’t have been able to do all of that without Beans!
What was your favourite part of the book and why?
My favourite part was at the end of the book when Amy was on the stage and was so scared and nervous because she didn’t have the lucky shoes on her. I was so scared for her. But, finally, McClusky came with the lucky shoes and saved the day! I really liked this because it made me so relieved that the got them in time and I was so happy because, if McClusky didn't get the lucky shoes, then the story would have a sad and terrible ending. Also I'm happy because whoever hid them would be so angry that they found them and that would be so funny to see.
What did you think of the book and why?
It was very interesting because there were lots of missions and I liked seeing the Dots Detectives find stuff out. But, it was also a little confusing because there were lots of things happening in the book. It was also very annoying because there was lots of drama in the story and the drama was annoying because Dot couldn’t find a few things and she was very annoying when she did that because I just wanted to know more about the missions. But, it was more exciting and funny. Overall, I liked the book, even though it was annoying and it had lots of drama.
